It’s hard not to be blown away when you step through Uluwatu Estate’s open-air living pavilion and see the vast Indian Ocean spread out before you. Frangipani trees frame the infinity pool at the edge of the cliff, tropical foliage rustles in the breeze, and carp splash gently in the tranquil ponds. The estate makes the most of its privileged clifftop position with thoughtfully designed spaces that open to the gardens and allow for views over the ocean.
Outdoor Living
Uluwatu Estate was designed to maximise outdoor enjoyment. The main gathering area is the huge living pavilion at the heart of the property. It’s open on all sides to allow natural light and air to flow through, but covered to provide shade and protection from the elements. A stone path leads to the stunning infinity pool that seems as though it melts into the horizon. Around the property there are benches and loungers where you can enjoy the sublime tropical setting. Your private chef can serve divine dishes at a table next to the pool, in the open-air pavilion, or at an al fresco or indoor setting of your choosing.
The suites
Each of the eight suites at Uluwatu Estate is distinctive in its design and atmosphere. Inside you will find a mix of modern furnishings, antiques, and Balinese textiles and artefacts. Outdoors there are relaxation areas set in Asian gardens. Each suite also has indoor and outdoor bathing areas with stunning handcrafted bathtubs. From the grand Uluwatu Suite with its private wooden deck and walled garden to the flexible Bingin and Suluban suites that can be configured with twin beds for children, there is a suite to suit everyone in your group at Uluwatu Estate.
The Spa & Gym
You don’t need to leave your clifftop sanctuary to enjoy some pampering or get in a workout. The Celebes Spa is located in a peaceful corner of the estate in its own garden. Here you can enjoy soothing treatments like deep tissue massages and manicures. The gym has large windows looking out to the internal courtyard and is fully outfitted with an elliptical, treadmill, free weights, and TRX equipment.
Indoor Living
You probably won’t spend too much time indoors at Uluwatu Estate, given that the natural setting is so inviting. However, on the odd day it rains or the temperature rises, you can retreat to the comfortable media room. Settle into one of the cosy armchairs or recline on the sofa to watch Netflix or Apple TV on the smart TV. There is also a wooden desk for catching up on emails or playing board games.
