Pimalai Resort & Spa, which opened in December 2001, is built on a splendid hundred acres of hilly lush tropical forest with direct access to nine hundred meters of pristine sandy beach. A great emphasis has been placed by the architects in preserving the environment when designing the low rise southern style buildings, resulting in a resort complementing the setting rather than competing with it. The name “Pimalai’ is a derivation of the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit and translates, appropriately, as “A little patch of Heaven”; this is a reflection of the stunning natural beauty and tranquility that are found both within the resort and also in its surroundings.
