






Four superbly decorated spacious en suiteguest rooms are anchored by a central living room, dining area, kitchen andden. The colour palette is deliberately muted with elegant use of soft creamand caramel hues for the walls and bleached oak wooden parquet floors throughout. This all contributes to an ambience of calm restful relaxation within the Cottage.
The Cottage displays work by some of NewZealand’s foremost artists – Max Gimblet, Mervyn Taylor, Don Binney, PaulDibble and Dick Frizell to name a few. The entire retreat is furbishedgenerously with unique pieces chosen for their comfort, beauty and history – like the wonderful 1920s French oak chairs in the living room.
The en suite rooms all have super-king sizebeds, comfortable chairs for lounging and the romance of a fireplace in yourbedroom.
Two of the guest suites face the riverwhile the other two enjoy a beautiful private courtyard garden aspect. These gardens also feature one of the magnificent outdoor fireplaces that can befound tucked away within the environs of Huka Lodge.
Bathrooms/Dressing Rooms
The bathrooms are beautifully appointedwith twin basins, deep baths, separate showers and heated towel rails. Thecathedral-style ceilings bathe the rooms in a high level of natural light. Thefloors are made from wood and all enjoy under-floor heating. Large and generouswalk-through dressing rooms are adjacent to all of the bathrooms.
The Den
The Den has a workstation, computer, plasmascreen television and DVD player, extremely comfortable leather chairs and acosy fireplace complete the picture. A laundry service is also available withthe Cottage.
The Kitchen
A well-equipped kitchen is set up for useby guests or a personal chef, with butler service also available if required.Guests may choose to stay in or to wander over to the main Lodge and dinethere. Guests at the Owner’s Cottage have use of all Huka Lodge facilities andservices as a matter of course.
Outdoor living
A large outdoor deck extends in acontinuous line from the living room until it meets the amazing cantileveredinfinity pool. The grounds within the Owner’s Cottage also feature a heated spapool, outdoor furniture suitable for dining, sunbathing, reading or a quietnap.
Temperature: The climate in New Zealand isdetermined strongly by a marked maritime influence and is temperate. If you arevisiting Huka Lodge in our summer months temperatures range from 17°C – thehigh 20s. The autumn months bring spectacular leaf colour and somewhat lowertemperatures 08-15°C. Winter in Taupo brings cold temperatures in the evening,crisp clear days and relatively high sunshine hours 06-12°C. Spring brings ourbeautiful gardens to life, especially the bulbs and temperatures of 10-15°C. WithTaupo placed at 350m above sea level it is invariably dry, whatever thetemperature.
LOCATION:
Huka Lodge is located in Taupo, in thecentral North Island of New Zealand. The central plateau enjoys a gentleclimate, a leisurely pace and spectacular landscape. Snow-capped volcanicmountain peaks, wild tussock, green and lush wilderness, the clear blue watersof lakes and streams. So many features reminiscent of other landscapes andother lands, are all contained within this one area.
The Lodge’s centrallocation ensures guests are never far from areas of interest. A ten-minutedrive takes them to the township of Taupo, or a one-hour drive to nearbygeothermal Rotorua. A journey through New Zealand from either north or south,will pass through Taupo offering the opportunity to experience superbhospitality at Huka Lodge.
Auckland Airport – Huka Lodge
With an approximate 1 hour and 10 minuteflight you will have enough time to enjoy the countryside on your way to HukaLodge or back to Auckland International Airport. Follow New Zealand’s largestriver with great views of the hydro-electric dams, forestry and lush farmlandalong the route.
Auckland City (Mechanics Bay) – Huka Lodge
Approx 1 hour 15 minutes flying time withthe same scenic attractions as above, with embarkation from Mechanics Bay,Auckland city.
Rotorua Airport – Huka Lodge
An approx 30-minute flying time, followingthe volcanic route, Huka Falls, Waikato River, Wai-o-tapu and Mt.Tarawera.
Taupo Airport – Huka Lodge
15 minutes away flying over the town, lakeand river including Huka Falls to land on the Huka Lodge lawn.
Helicopter transfers to golf courses
Kauri Cliffs – International standardcoastal course in Northland. Approx. a 2 hour and 10 minute one-way flight.
Cape Kidnappers – International standardlinks course near Napier. Approx. a 45-minute one-way flight.
Kinloch Signature Course – The only JackNicklaus course in New Zealand. A 15-minute one-way flight.
ROOM DETAIL:
The Cottage boasts two large and stylishlyappointed suites, with individual fireplaces, en suite bathrooms and generouswalk-through dressing rooms. Both suites are superbly decorated and offer ahighly considered level of comfort.

A study is tucked away with desk, plasmaflat-screen television and sound system. This room also has its own separatebathroom and can be readily converted into a single room, should it be requiredto accommodate an accompanying party.
Outdoor living
A heated infinity-style swimming pool and aseparate private spa pool have been integrated into the outdoor landscape.There is also a fabulous stone outdoor pavilion within a private courtyardgarden, featuring a magnificent fireplace.

Pre-dinner drinks and canapés for one hour before dinner everynight.
Every night a five-course gourmet dinner is presented, there is anew menu created everyday by the Huka Lodge Executive Chef. After dinner,petits-fours and cheeses are also provided.
Full country breakfast is served everyday – guests can choose from agenerous quantity and variety of delicious dishes.
